In 2002, Artimus Pyledriver released their very first 5 track EP "Southern Fried Rock" which the band dishes out an angry, soulful, almost Southern blues riff-rock, bottom-heavy like COC and driving at high energy consistently from start to finish. Vocals are gritty and angry but nice and melodic throughout. The guitars are of chunky overdriven monster tones and thick chord progressions... That was 2002. In 2004 the band not only did a 3 weeks US tour as support of local heroes Nashville Pussy, but also recorded their debut album, simply titled "Artimus Pyledriver". The album was produced by the band, together with Matt Washburn and Dave Angstrom (from Supafuzz and Hermano fame) and features the best songs the band wrote the past years and is ass kickin' once more. Only this time, Artimus Pyledriver kick hard. Very hard! In April 2005 the Artimus-boys hooked up with Hank Williams III for a 6 weeks US tour.
"Whatever band has to go on after them would be forced to play the show of their life..."
- Azgarth, Editor StonerRock.com
"Artimus Pyledriver is equal parts Southern Rock and Jack Daniels: straight, no ice, no glass, just leave the bottle, hell yeah!"
- Greg Smith, Creative Loafing Atlanta
"Not only does their live sound hit like a thousand anvils, these Atlanta boys delivered stunning visual performances as well. Their spastic singers was gifted with an explosive stage presence and a seriously evil voice. Sandpapery and shrill, the last time I heard a demonic voice like that was on Skinny Puppy's 'Tin Omen', and even Nivek Ogre needed a voice processor to create such an effect. With water dramatically splashing off his drums and a maniacal smile, the drummer brought his share of raving kinesis to the performance as well. And seen live, their sledgehammer guitar work was much more technically demanding than one would expect. Kick ass, just plain kick ass."
- Bao Le-Huu Music Columnist, OrlandoCityBeat
"I hate going on after these guys!"
- Ruyter Suys, Nashville Pussy
"No matter what you call it, Artimus Pyledriver's sound takes the blues-inflected sludge fo its influences and adds a dose of ass-kickin', monster truck fury."
- Jonathan Williams, Music Editor Prick Magazine
"Artimus Pyledriver is jamming the beer-drinking, hell-raising, high-octane redneck rock in the tradition of Mountain and modern rippers Bad Wizard. I turned this up until the police came by and wanted to know who in the hell that band was."
- H. Barry Zimmerman, Scratch Magazine
"This is Southern Rawk at it's best. The music of Artimus Pyledriver is pure energy, bluessoaked riffs with a lot of Metal in it and a raw voice which fits fucking great to the music and gives the whole thing a damn good groove."
- RB Daredevil Magazine
"Georgia bounty rock hunters make there marks on the Southern stoner community. Marks that will indeed bleed, bruise, and then most likely will enhance scar tissue."
-Smut Strutter, Candy For Bad Children
