Female fronted gothic rock, the Belgian way!

Ever thought what a combination of Blondie, The Mission and Within Temptation should sound like? Well, check out Sengir's debut album 'Guilty Water'. Beautiful female vocals, ethereal keyboards and driving guitar rhythms are combined perfectly to heavy emotional songs with a hard edge and a mysterious atmosphere.
After some unfruitful experiments in other bands, Kris Scheerlinck and Jurgen Cobbaut decided, at the end of 1995, to found Sengir. A death and doom-metalband at the start, their music evolved to a sort of melodic gothic-rock/metal. This evolution caused many changes in the line-up. Now, this turbid period is over and the band found a far more stable line-up.
Sengir's debut album was recorded and produced by Xavier Carion, the former master riffmeister of Belgium 's most heavy and successful Channel Zero. Thanks to Xavier's years of experience at the top of the international metal-scene, Sengir managed to create a new masterpiece in dark metalrock.
Although the band was contacted by more than a handful of international labels, they decided to sign a worldwide deal with Buzzville Records (home of other successful Belgian recording artists, such as The SemiTones and Cowboys & Aliens,...).
Everyone who thought the Netherlands was the only country responsible for gothic rock , in combination with female vocals and a commercial approach, is completely wrong. This Belgian band provides you with all the ingredients for the next chapter in the gothic rock novel.
The Belgian N° 1 goth rockers finished recording the follow up for their critically acclaimed debut album "Guilty Water". For the band, the release of "Guilty Water" (in February 2003) was the beginning of a more than successful series of gigs and tours (together with e.g. After Forever, Orphanage, Autumn, Trail Of Tears, Epica, Nightwish,...) in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. The band played the ‘Metal Female Voices Festival' two times in a row (in 2003 and 2004) and highlight of 2005 was the gig at the Graspop Metal Meeting.
January, 23th 2006 was the release date of "Sign Of Devotion", Sengir's second album. The band recorded the album, together with producer Tony De Block at the Midas Studio's in Lokeren (Belgium). "Sign Of Devotion" features 11 tracks that are way more guitar-driven, yet very melodic. During that same year 2006, Sengir played at the Graspop Metal Meeting and the Metal Female Voices Festival (part 4) and contributed on compilation series as "Beautiful Voices II" and "Gothic".
